Fall study abroad is recommended for most students, as it gives you the best chance of obtaining a placement in the program of your choice. Pre-nursing students, however, can apply to study abroad during the spring semester of their second year. Those who meet certain criteria may even be able to study abroad during the fall semester of their senior year.

Programs vary, but typically involve professional or graduate studies, advanced research, or teaching English in elementary and secondary schools or universities. If you plan to study in a foreign-speaking country, you must have at least two semesters of university studies in the required language.
